Generality

The polyamide is part of a class of polymers commonly called Nylon. It’s a biocompatible material according to EN ISO 10993-1 and UPS/Level VI/121°C and is approved for food contact in compliance with the EU Plastics Directive 2002/72/EC (with the exception of high alcoholic foodstuff). Printing with this material allows a high selectivity and a high detail resolution. In addition, it is characterized by a good chemical resistance, a low coefficient of friction and a good resistance to abrasion. One typical characteristic of sintered parts in Polyamide is the perfect harmony between mechanical strength and elasticity on a wide range of temperature, that makes this material suitable for parts with different geometries, dimensions and requirements.

Finish

Laser sintered parts in Polyamide allows the application of various finishes such as metal plating, stove enamelling, vibratory grinding, tub colouring, gluing or powder coating.

Applicazioni

The typical applications of this material are fully functional plastic parts of high quality with design properties, that can undergo high thermal and mechanical strain. It is often used for the substitution of typical injection moulding plastics, for the production of prototypes, but also for spare parts. Its biocompatibility allows it to be used for the production of prostheses, and its high abrasion resistance allows it to be used for the realisation of movable part connections.
