PA6 MF
Mineral Filled Polyamide
SLS Material
Generalities
The PA6 MF grades have in common that they show high modulus, high strength and excellent thermal distortion stability. These properties ensure precise feature control, very good mechanical properties and simple surface reprocessing of 3D printed parts.
Ultrasint® PA6 MF black contains mineral reinforcement. In contrast to simple dry blends, the reinforcement is embedded within the particles, leading to improved powder homogeneity, better spreading and easier recycling. Tensile and flexural modulus, as well as impact strength are significantly higher compared to unfilled material.
The PA6 MF black, therefore, lends itself for applications where high stiffness and high strength are the most important requirements – a material suitable for parts with demanding mechanical property combinations
Typical applications are:
▪ Engine compartment parts;
▪ Media flow & storage parts (i.e. oil);
▪ Housings & covers;
▪ Tooling equipment & molds.
What is PA6?
PA6 is one of the most performing materials among those used in additive manufacturing and is part of the Polyamides family. The use of PA6 powders in additive manufacturing with SLS 3D printers is a well-known combination in the industrial world. Thanks to the use of this material it is in fact possible to create resistant applications even at high temperatures with excellent mechanical properties..
Characteristics and performance of PA6 powders
PA6 is used for the production of robust parts that need to have good chemical, abrasion and impact resistance. One of the peculiarities that makes it a valid alternative to PA2200 is its excellent resistance to high temperatures.
The 3D printing material with SLS technology is also used for additive manufacturing of parts with high strength and stiffness.
- High tensile strength
- Good fatigue strength
- High compressive strength
- Good resistance to aging
- Good chemical resistance to organic compounds
Applications of PA6
With the exception of electrical applications (it is a hygroscopic material), PA6 is a material widely used in the mechanical industry and in the production industry in general.
The main fields of application of PA6 are:
- Engineering applications
- Automotive
- Automation
- Tooling
- Packaging
Advantages of PA6
3D printed parts produced with PA6 can also be subjected to aesthetic or functional post-processing through our dedicated technologies. Thanks to Prosilas’ post-process processing, it is possible to improve the performance and aesthetic characteristics of your additive manufacturing.
